If you have the time, we’ve got the fun. There’s
something new happening every day. Our culture is
rich in music, art and history, drawing from the
heritage and diversity of our region, French,
American Indian, African, Italian, Lebanese, Asian
and
Celtic. Our community has diverse
offerings as well ranging from classical ballet to
ethnic dance, from Tchaikovsky to the Bayou Boys.
The city supports six dance companies, a symphony
orchestra and four community theaters. There are
three larger museums: Imperial Calcasieu, focusing
on the region’s history and arts, the Mardi Gras
Museum and Historic City Hall, a gallery
highlighting local artists and traveling
exhibitions.
We celebrate with year round festivals, Contraband
Days, Cajun Food & Music Festival, Calca-Chew Food
Festival, Mardi Gras and Christmas Boat Parades to
name a few. Southwest Louisiana is toe-tapping,
crawfish-eating, art-shopping, wine-tasting fun!
